A Classic Les Paul for the Modern Day

From its carved maple top to its stockpile of premium features, the Gibson Les Paul Standard ’60s is ready to rock. 60s Burstbucker pickups and handwired electronics deliver a massive tone arsenal. And you’ll enjoy effortless playability courtesy of a fast SlimTaper-profile neck and silky-smooth rosewood fingerboard with Plek’d frets. If you’ve been wanting a modern Les Paul Standard with a slinky ’60s feel and premium appointments, Sweetwater has your axe. The Gibson Les Paul Standard ’60s is the guitar you’ve been waiting for.

Burstbucker pickups deliver vintage PAF tone

When it comes to capturing vintage Patent Applied For (PAF) humbucker tone, nothing beats the sound of this Les Paul Standard’s 60s Burstbucker pickups. These magnets — along with period-correct unmatched windings on the bobbins — capture the subtle historical variations in true humbucker tone. Plug into your favorite amp, and experience smooth low-end response, complex midrange crunch, and sweet-sounding highs. These pickups sound great clean or they can be used to push your amp into overdrive for the legendary fat, snarling tone you can only get with a humbucker. Under the hood, the control assembly is handwired with matched potentiometers and Orange Drop capacitors, ensuring that you’ll hear the mellifluous voice of your Les Paul Standard ’60s in all its glory, even when you back down your volume.

SlimTaper neck and Plek’d frets for optimized playability

Comfort and playability were two of Gibson’s primary concerns when they were designing the Les Paul Standard ’60s. You’ll be delighted by how this guitar’s SlimTaper neck profile comfortably fits your hand in just the right way. For your playing pleasure, the rosewood fingerboard is buffed to silky smoothness and bound with rolled edges so that no fret ends impede your dexterity. The frets are dressed to perfection using a Plek Pro machine for optimized playability. Typically reserved for top-dollar custom guitars, this process levels the frets with pinpoint precision, providing you with the most playable fretboard you’re likely to own.

Nitro finish for the look and feel of a classic

Gibson gave the Les Paul Standard ’60s a gorgeous nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Nitro finishes — standard back in the day — are significantly thinner than today’s polyurethane finishes, allowing the guitar to “breathe.” Nitro finishes not only look amazing, but they also enhance the instrument’s tonal qualities. The Les Paul Standard ’60s has the look and feel of a lovingly cared-for classic — one that will only improve with age.

Gibson Les Paul Standard ’60s Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:

  • Mahogany body, AAA figured maple top; gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish
  • Mahogany neck, SlimTaper profile, gloss nitro finish
  • Rosewood fingerboard, 12" radius, acrylic trapezoid inlays
  • Plek Pro fret treatment for optimized playability

Gibson standard 60’s Heritage Cherry

All I can say is just WOW! I couldn't be more happy with this guitar, I can't put it down. Matthew LaMarche is the best sales rep, even helped me pick this beauty out!

Gibson AAA 60s standard heritage cherry sunburst

The guitar is beyond beautiful. Breathtaking top. The guitar arrived and i carefully checked it over and couldnt find one single blemish. Excellent qualoty control for the whole guitar. It was setup from sweetwater with 11s in e flat. The fretboard is the nicest ive ever played and the guitar sounds very good. The only thing is now gibson is putting a felt pad on the bottom of the screw on the pickguard and it touches the nitro finish and is reacting. Maybe i should just take the pickguard off.
Also if you play metal the 60s burstbucker bridge pickup may be a little weak. I measured the output and its 7.9k. Ordered a 498t to replace so we will see how that goes. My other les paul has 57 classics with the bridge pup replaced with a duncan jb. So i was used to a high output pup.
If you dont play metal, for those classic tones from the 70s and 80s these pickups rock!

Was so nervous pushing the button

My most expensive guitar ever i was so nervous pushing the button. But omg glad i did. Just FYI the pictures dont do it justice. It just gives you and idea. They look better in person.trust me on this.

I heard about gibson QA issues in the past this one i couldnt find not 1 issue. I was being very maticulous with it as well.

All and all im glad i did and even more glad my g.f foot the bill =0P.

Fantastic Guitar

An amazing guitar. Playability is insane. The maple top is superb. We (my son and I) actual drove to Sweetwater from Virginia to try out multiple Les Pauls. My son thought we were picking one out for me...but my intention was to surprise him with it. My sales rep, Adams Cesarz, was there to help us out. He was extremely helpful assisting us. He even gave us recommendations for dinner! "Thank you for helping me pick out the guitar and for keeping the secret while my son was there. You really were a huge help."

Very nice

Wonderful Guitar.

From rockers to jazz cats, there are generations of guitarists right here at Sweetwater who swear by Gibson guitars. Not only do they make many of the most iconic solidbody electric guitars of all time - the Les Paul, the SG, the Flying V - but they also produce classic hollowbody and semi-hollowbody models and some of the most iconic acoustic guitars on the planet. We play them all! Our close relationship with Gibson often allows us to stock exclusive models and rare finds, and we're always happy to turn players and collectors on to the gems in the Sweetwater Guitar Gallery. We also have access to all the latest Gibson hardware, and the Sweetwater Guitar Repair Shop has upgraded countless guitars with their top-of-the-line humbuckers, classic P-90s, and more.
