A Library’s Worth of Craftsmanship
Tucked away in an upstairs corner of the PRS factory are racks filled with extraordinary tonewoods. Mahogany, maple, rosewood, ebony, swamp ash, korina — you name it. This is the PRS Wood Library. It is from these premium tonewoods that Wood Library guitars like this one are built. This limited-edition PRS Wood Library McCarty 594 features a stunning carved figured maple 10-top, a light but resonant swamp ash body, an ebony fingerboard, and a gorgeous figured maple neck. The neck’s Pattern Vintage profile offers a more old school grip that feels fuller and entirely capable in the hands of both thumb-over and thumb-under guitarists. Onboard TCI-tuned 58/15 LT pickups deliver powerful tone as natural humbuckers or split single-coils. Sweetwater players who demand top-tier performance and a gorgeous looks turn here to Wood Library creations like the McCarty 594 from PRS.

Bold swamp ash tone
As guitar manufacturers scramble to navigate supply chain issues, swamp ash — one of the finest tonewoods known to humankind — has become quite hard to come by. Thankfully PRS’ Wood Library’s vast stockpiles are still chock-full of swamp ash, which means classic guitar tones are still within your reach. Swamp ash grows only near the banks of the Mississippi River, the same central and southern heartlands that birthed the blues and rock ’n’ roll. Because its roots grow directly in water, it is the lightest species of ash available with incredible balance, resonance, and dynamic response.
Precision-tuned TCI pickups
Two 58/15 LT pickups power the decidedly rich tone of this exceptional instrument. Their sonic pedigree mirrors the warm, clear tones that propelled the original 58/15 pickups to the top of Sweetwater guitarists’ wish list. However, these pickups are further sweetened by PRS’ Tuned Capacitance and Inductance (TCI) tuning process, which entails ear-tuned approval by Paul Reed Smith and his team before each pickup leaves the shop. Plus, each 58/15 LT is calibrated for coil splitting, with tones that are exceptionally authentic to actual single-coil pickups.
Pattern Vintage neck and 24.594-inch scale length
The McCarty 594 has a neck feel that maximizes your performance and comfort with PRS’s asymmetrical Pattern Vintage profile. Though much like their Pattern profile, PRS’s Pattern Vintage carve is slightly thicker to fill your hand in just the right way; we’ve found it works equally well for both thumb-over and thumb-under fretting techniques. And for enhanced playability, this guitar features the silky, relaxed handfeel of McCarty’s iconic 24.594-inch scale length (the source of the “594” in the model name).
