This Signature Solidbody Delivers Serious Tone!

The single-cut Larry Carlton L7 electric guitar from Sire has been designed to meet its namesake's meticulous standards for playability, tone, and overall feel. The lightweight mahogany body with maple veneer is resonant and ready for hours of comfortable playing onstage. The smooth mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard deliver the playability and response that suit a variety of styles, from jazz to rock to blues. The Sire modern Tune-o-matic bridge and aluminum stop tailpiece offer wonderful sustain and tuning support. And for stellar amplified sonic output, two Larry Carlton Modern humbuckers deliver warm, full tone that can be dialed in to fit your style.

These humbuckers rock out and never wash out

The Larry Carlton Modern humbuckers in this signature electric guitar have been wired to deliver tone that is versatile and classic sounding — just how Larry likes it! The humbucker in the neck position stays creamy and warm even when driven hard; the humbucker in the bridge position is full of bite, without the shrill or ice-pick tone that some humbuckers can slide into — especially when grit and crunch are added. Shape your tone with the two volume controls, two tone controls, and a 3-way toggle, and feast your eyes on the vintage-inspired brown top hat knobs while you do! This pickup duo delivers everything from hard-hitting to softly strummed chords, from finessed jazz runs to rocking riffs. Simply put, Mr. Carlton would only give his stamp of approval on pickups that represent his own versatility of style — a versatility that led him to play on a seemingly countless number of artists’ albums and singles.

Neck designed for feel

The C-shaped mahogany neck on the L7 fills your hand nicely while staying out of your way. This guitar’s 24.75-inch scale makes for effortless vibrato and painless string bends, and its 12-inch-radius ebony fingerboard flaunts medium jumbo frets and rolled edges for enhanced playability. You also get a tone-enhancing bone nut and sustain-boosting set-neck joint. And the satin finish is smooth, not slippery — this finish is a favorite among guitarists here at Sweetwater.

Worth It

You will not be disappointed with the entire L7 line or from ordering from Sweetwater. Gregg Block is top notch. Got this and the white one, the white review was written first, but it ALL applies to this Tobacco Burst also. Plays and sounds way above its price. Check out the white review for more details.

Worth the wait

After Epiphone released the Alex Lifeson LP, I thought, "Why not have a LP with a Floyd Rose?" Unfortunately, so did many others and the Lifeson guitar was sold out. After discovering the Floyd Rose FRX, I thought the Epiphone LP Custom would be a great fit. Then, I discovered the Sire L7 and thought I would order one. Sweetwater's return policy made it no-risk. If it wasn't as good as advertised, I could go with the Epiphone LP Custom. Although it was a 5 month wait, it was totally worth it. I had the FRX installed in minutes and was able to tweak the action within a few more to my taste. (There are many reviews and how-to guides on YT about Sire and the FRX.) The Sire L7 plays as well as any Les Paul I've ever played, including the high end LPs that cost thousands of dollars. If you are a fan of a 24.75" scale and 12" radius neck, you will be right at home with the Sire L7. Larry Carlton's name is on the headstock as the guitars were built to his taste. Sire may call it an L7, but, I'm a proud owner of a Sire LC!

Sire L7 - Best Value For Price

I purchased a Sore L7 way back in December 2021 and waited for months to get the guitar. No big deal I have more than one guitar. This guitar has exceeded my expectations. The playability right out of the box is amazing. The quality of all components and the feel of the guitar are perfect. This has become my "go to" guitar for practice at home. I would recommend this guitar to anyone. I will be purchasing a Sore S model soon. Sweetwater was awesome as well, always keeping me updated on the status of my order. Definitely worth the wait.

Sire Larry Carlton L7 Elecetric Guitar-Tobacco Sunburst

The guitar came well packed and arrived quickly. I bought this as a demo, but failed to find any blemishes, it's condition was like new. The quality of this guitar is exceptional, rolled edges on the fret board, great sounding pickups, amazing play ability, locking tuners, just an overall great guitar. I would rate this guitar equal if not better than other guitars costing three times as much, that's how good this instrument is. I'm convinced that the Sire Collection is a great value, and the quality/craftsmanship is outstanding! I'm now looking at the Sire Tele style guitars to add to my arsenal. If you are considering a Sire, don't hesitate, just do it, you won't regret it. Another Thing to mention, is the Sales Engineer, Robbie Dennison. He was outstanding and kept me informed throughout the transaction up to the final delivery, to ensure that I was satisfied with the guitar and if I had any concerns he would address them. In fact he went above and beyond my expectations, by even mailing me photos of the guitar I bought for my viewing pleasure, a shout out to Robbie! Thanks again to Sweetwater and Robbie for their excellent instruments and customer service!

Amazing right out of the box…

After letting the guitar acclimate for a day, I was amazed at how well it played right out of the box after tuning it up. Build quality is very good. The neck is very comfortable. Intonation required a little tweaking, but that's understandable. Will gig with it this weekend. Will know more about the pups after that. So far I am very impressed! Thanks Derek for all your help!
