Solid-top Acoustic-electric with Vintage Vibe and a Big Voice

In the Yamaha AC1M Concert acoustic-electric guitar, Yamaha offers a vintage look, excellent volume in the low-mid ranges, and great playability. With a solid Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides, this concert-sized guitar sounds fantastic. The Yamaha AC1M takes full advantage of Yamaha's acclaimed SRT piezo pickup for recording and stage performance. With its traditional System 66 preamp, you get volume, a built-in tuner, a 3-band EQ, and automatic midrange frequency control with a convenient slider.

Vintage style and superior playability

The Yamaha AC1M Concert has a traditional concert body cutaway, allowing its lows and highs to resonate fully and project well through its circular soundhole. The concert cutaway gives it a classic look, and because it offers better access to the upper frets, soloing is easier, as you can reach higher treble notes more comfortably. Sweetwater fingerstyle players love that

Quality woods plus classic design equal brilliant sound

Sitka spruce is highly valued for guitar tops — and for good reason. This select grade of stiff but elastic softwood is equally suited to aggressive strumming, flatpicking, and even fingerpicking styles of play. The Yamaha AC1M features a solid Sitka top with mahogany back and sides, producing warm, balanced tones from low to high. This guitar just looks, plays, and sounds great.

Studio sound onstage

Normally you can best hear a guitar's subtle nuances when it's miked in the studio, but the Yamaha AC1M has Yamaha's SRT pickup, which brings those wonderful acoustic sounds to the stage. Further customization is provided through the AMF midrange frequency adjustment on the preamp control panel

Yamaha AC1M Concert Cutaway Features:

  • 6-string acoustic-electric with traditional concert cutaway
  • Solid Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides for bright, warm tone
  • SRT piezo pickup brings studio-quality sound to the performance stage
  • Convenient bulit-in tuner, 3-band EQ and volume controls at your fingertips on the upper bout

Beautiful Guitar

I tried not to have too high of expectations but.. This guitar exceeded expectations anyway!

Beautiful construction. I looked, and relooked for a flaw. Nothing. Exception finish especially at this price point. People talked about really liking the neck - I can agree, it feels somehow "ultra" quality? Hard to pinpoint why, but playability it superb.

Straight out of the box, little tune up & it was all set. Love the two AA battery pickup instead of 9v. Just a beautiful Guitar in every way. Best under $1000 I've personally come across. Highly recommend.

Perfect Service

Delivery was perfect, in fact, the guitar was still tuned when it arrived. Mehir was an excellent advisor, I could not be happier. Thanks, Sweetwater!

Yamaha knows best!

I own Martins and a Taylor, and I still reach for this one when playing live. One, I don't want to damage my Martin- but jokes aside, this is an incredibly versatile acoustic electric. The solid top opened up very quickly (a month or two) and became just as balanced as my Taylor. I personally love the heavier neck as it balances in my hand for sitting/live play. Very bright but not thin and takes reverb well. Neck is simply a joy: easy to play and feels like a more expensive guitar. I did switch the nut and bridge but I do this on any guitar with plastic parts- this is the only part you can feel the "Made in China"-ness of this guitar but plugged in, it doesn't matter. Overall, this guitar is the perfect open mic/small venue guitar and that's exactly how I love to use it. I would suggest this for any intermediate player looking to step into solid woods but doesn't have the capital just yet.

Punches well above its weight

I compared this guitar against about 20 other acoustics at all price points -- ranging from $100 Takamines to $5000 Martins and THIS particular guitar (the Yamaha AC1M) simply knocked it out of the park. this guitar is an absolute beast with excellent tone and playability.

It is a very warm sounding acoustic that immediately called to mind Alice In Chains' MTV Unplugged album. It really nails that moody, dark, mellow vibe.

The first thing that really jumped out at me was the rich, warm timbre of the instrument. Thanks to the mahogany sides, it has a very resonant and "full" sounding voice that is still articulate and allows the high strings to shine through. This makes chords come out sounding very warm but harmonic. It's a great tone for people who like darker acoustics.

Another thing that I immediately liked was the neck profile. This guitar has a pretty neutral neck profile that is good for both chords and single notes. If anything, it is maybe on the thinner side than most other acoustics. I have average-sized hands and found this neck to be very comfortable to play.

Finally, I really like the aesthetic appearance of this guitar. Looks aren't everything -- but the fact that this guitar comes in an old school looking tobacco-burst finish with the slightly "aggressive" styled pick-guard carries some mojo and is a nice bonus.

This guitar is manufactured in China but can hold its own against almost any American-made acoustic until you start getting into the $4,000 + range. For an affordably priced acoustic guitar that genuinely sounds great I don't think you can realistically do better than the Yamaha AC1M.

This is my first acoustic electric and for the $$ you can't go wrong. Great tone and really easy to play.
